Instructions to install PostScript Font Libraries
in Your System:
The following files form this group:
1) ps_0.fli
2) ps_1.fli
3) ps_2.fli
4) ps_3.fli
5) ps_4.fli
6) ps_5.fli
7) ps_h.fli
8) fonttst1.tex , fonttst2.tex
10) readme ( this file).

These library files have been generated from the .pk
files available in the file
\pub\archive\fonts\postscript\pk-files\psfonts.zip
These files were converted from UNIX naming convention
i.e. fontname.(res)pk to DOS naming convention
i.e. fontname.pk.
This enables a user to use 6 files instead of the numerous
.pk files.
------------------------------------------------------
1) The following 6 files have been created, using the
betatest version of emtex FONTLIB program.
( If you have any problems with the older version
please contact us at the email address mentioned below)
ps_0.fli,ps_1.fli,ps_2.fli,ps_3.fli,ps_4.fli,ps_5.fli,ps_h.fli.
2) Move these files into the \texfonts directory where you
have stored your lj_*.fli files (or other printer type
library files).
3) Modify the .cnf (or other appropriate .cnf file that
you are using) in the \emtex directory. The /pl line is
to be modified as shown in the sample lj.cnf here. (You
can copy this file into the \emtex directory if you are
using laserjet fonts). This is modified to use both the
laserjet and postscript fonts.( See first arrow line
in (8) below ). We have worked with p6l.cnf,p6m.cnf,p6h.cnf
as of now.
4) Also modify newfonts.sub in the emtex directory with
the one given here and shown below in (10). Add the line
/ps=c:\emtex\newfonts.sub
in your .cnf file. ( This has already been done in the
lj.cnf file shown here). See second arrow line in (8) below.
5) YOU ARE GOOD TO GO.
6) EXAMPLES :
--------
i) FONTTST1.TEX - This gives the available postscript
fonts that can be used.
ii) FONTTST2.TEX- This gives postscript fonts at different
sizes. The sizes shown here are the ones that can exactly
be simulated.
Look into them for details. LaTeX them for checking your
installation.
7) USAGE :
-----
a) Available Fonts:
---------------
The available fonts are shown in the file fonttst1.tex.
The bracketed term shows the short form of these fonts to be used.
b) Point sizes available:
---------------------
The point size can be defined by you. Look in the file
fonttst2.tex for its usage. Fonttst2.dvi shows the size. You
can use the following point size exactly (5,6,7,8,9,10,11,14,
17,20,25). The previewer will however work with any point size
from 5 to 25, but will display only the above font sizes exactly
( since the .pk files have been available only in the above sizes).
This has been done by using font substitution in the file newfonts.sub.
See section (10) below for the modifications in newfonts.sub
These point sizes are exact for 300DPI resolution. For resolutions
180x180 DPI and 360x360 DPI appropriate substitutions have been made.
c) Driver prompts for unavailable resolution ?
-----------------------------------------
In this event the only choice is to specify a resolution closest
to the ones available ( 150,180,210,240,270,300,329,360,432,518,
622,746).
8) Modifications in the .cnf ( Example here uses lj.cnf). These
templates are for dvidrv 1.4s. The template for dvidrv 1.4d
or other versions is slightly different. ( You can rename it
as ps.cnf and change the batch files suitably ).

9) Printing exact fontsizes that are not defined above:
---------------------------------------------------
However you can print the exact point sizes (other than the ones
shown above) as you have defined using the utility : DVIPS (to
create a .ps file from the .dvi file). Use GHOSTSCRIPT to print
your postscript file.
10) Modifications in NEWFONTS.SUB.
----------------------------
The font substitutions are currently working for 300X300 DPI
printer ( HP laserjet printer ), 360 x 360 DPI printer driver
and 180 x 180 DPI printer driver. These substitutions have
been done to work with the following .cnf files ( p6l.cnf ,
p6m.cnf & p6h.cnf and lj.cnf).
